WOMEN
We promote gender equity as a principle of human rights and a developmental goal as well as gender justice and the achievement of equality in policies, laws and social relations. We organizes caregivers’ forum where guardians and parents are educated on Sexual and Reproductive Health as their right, the advantages of a safe and clean environment, regular health check-up, Children Education, Nutrition and Immunization for children, Sexual and Reproductive Health services - use of modern Family Planning, Maternal New born Child Health (MNCH) e.g. Safe-motherhood, Child-Spacing. We encourage women especially young women and Girl-Child to realize their values and potentials through skill acquisition training programs. Once in a year we mobilize them for HIV and Breast and Cervical cancer screening. WICCI empower women to have a voice in their communities through sensitization and enlightenment programs.
SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH RIGHTS OF WOMEN,YOUTHS/ADOLESCENTS
WICCI work together with Family Health Initiative Ogun (FAHIO - Advocacy Working Group in Ogun State) since 2014 to promote access to Sexual and Reproductive health Rights (SRHR) of women and youths through Adolescent health development programs, advocacy, outreaches and networking with strong support of International partners. In addition, WICCI collaborates with network of organisations like, Civil Society for HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN) and Civil Society Coalition on SDG (CSCSD OGUN) using targets from goals 3, 4 and 5 to increase access to SRHR.
CHILDREN
Children are exposed to ideas that make them think positively about the world around them. We give them Nutritional support which is necessary for growth and the best legacy – quality education to place them in leadership positions. We enroll out-of-schools children, mostly girls back to school, pay their school levies and provide them with scholastic materials. We have supported/empowered over 500 vulnerable children in Abeokuta, Ogun State with various interventions ranging from Sexual and Health Education, Nutritional, Educational and Vocational skill acquisition programs.
ADVOCACY
Since its founding, WICCI has been the voice of the less privileged and marginalized women and children in communities in Ogun State. We advocate for: Women and Girls’ rights to Sexual and Reproductive Health, Services, prevention of violence against Female gender and People with Disabilities, good government Policies, better school learning environment/condition for children etc. In collaboration with other NGO/Network of organisations we continue to advocate for change to relevant authorities and stakeholders
ENVIRONMENT: Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
(WASH) and Waste management are major environmental problems that our organization has its focus on. In 2005 the WHO estimated that 1 in 3 people are still without sanitation facilities while 663 million people still lack access to safe and clean drinking water. Maintaining good hygiene, adequate sanitation and proper hygiene education can reduce illness and death more so, keeping good hygiene is important for both health and social reasons. It entails keeping your hands, head, and body clean so as to stop the spread of germs and illness. In promoting SDG 6, which is global access to safe water, WICCI with support of our Partner provided a solar-panel borehole system for a community in Odeda Local Government, Ogun State, Nigeria. It conveniently serves four other neighboring communities.
