Women, Infant and children care Initiative (WICCI) is a not-for-profit, non- governmental organisation based in Abeokuta Ogun State, Nigeria. It was initiated after a visit to the United State of America by Mrs. Doyinsola Adebayo. The idea was inspired by the welfare system she observed first hand in USA. The sole objective of the American Welfare scheme is to empower the physically disadvantaged groups in the society and to enhance standard of living. Typically, Africa has the greatest proportion of children who are orphans. It is known that Global orphan number would be falling without AIDS (United Nations Children Fund Zimbabwe). This spurred the idea to create a non-governmental organisation with the sole objective of catering for the interest of poor pregnant women/teenagers, single mothers, widows, infants and other vulnerable groups in the society. The organization was inaugurated in 2005 and was duly registered with corporate affairs commission in 2006.
WICCI membership is open to young men, young ladies and women who are determined to serve selflessly in order to make life better for the less-privileged and the vulnerable children and women in our society.
